Case Study

During the summer we facilitated an Artistic Intervention at Las Delicias Stream, Sept 11 2011, in the Eastern Mountains of Bogota city in Colombia.  By combining innovative languages, a Collective of 10 artists used different artistic expressions (Garbage Sculptural trees, 60 m2 Mosaic, Graffiti/Painting Murals and Music) to reweave the web.

This constituted a new form of knowledge, not just because it raised the environmental awareness of the inhabitants of neighbourhoods surrounding Las Delicias, but especially because it uncovered the key role that art may play in fostering this awareness. By involving people’s emotions, this form of communication is likely to be more effective and long-lasting than traditional environmental education prohibitions, or restoration efforts.
